Wash hair and apply a volumising product to the roots and comb. Turn your head upside down and blow-dry. Using a round brush (try large spiral bristle brush), smooth the mid-lengths and ends. For soft, wavy volume, put sections in rollers (use Ceramic Thermal Rollers) for half an hour, then brush. For height backcomb the roots and smooth the top layers. |

The best way to get curls is by using Poker Straight and Kinda Curly Straightening Irons.
Apply Professional Curling Iron Protection Mist all over hair before styling with irons. Take a small section of hair and grip it on the plate, about an inch from the root. Turn the irons 180° and slowly run them down the hair shaft. Repeat all over. Create a defined look with hold by using Styling Spray. Add volume by backcombing and spraying at the roots. |

Chart-topper Rihanna is brightening up her dark hair with shimmering pink flashes.
Hair colour doctor Lisa Shepherd reckons strong punk-style flashes in every colour from purple through to red and blue are going to be huge this season. The trick is choosing the colour to suit you. She says: "Rihanna has a very cool skin tone so this pinky-blue shade is perfect for her. If you have a more olive skin tone, go for a strong red or even copper shade. Ask your colourist to prelighten your hair before colouring the flashes to make them bolder, and keep them just under the top layers of your hair to avoid obvious looking stripes." A Reflection Chroma cream gives hair a glass-like finish. |
